Matt Forger
Educated at Syracuse University and SUNY College at Buffalo, Matt
Forger began his involvement in the music business by mixing live sound
for rock bands in the Northeast, and designing and building sound systems
and recording studios.
Shortly after moving to Los Angeles, Matt secured a staff position
at Westlake Studios, where he met and worked with producers Giorgio
Moroder, Keith Forsey, Harold Faltermeyer and George Duke. Later
he teamed up with producers Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton and Bruce Swedien,
working on albums that included Michael Jackson’s THRILLER. Matt
has worked with a roster of highly respected recording artists and
record industry professionals, and also on projects with award-winning
film directors Steven Spielberg, John Landis, George Lucas and Francis
Ford Coppola.
Matt has worked closely with Michael Jackson, providing a technical
foundation and environment conducive to the artist’s creative
needs: songwriting, development and arrangement. Together they
generated award-winning singles, videos and dance remixes, international
versions and audio promotional materials.
His production contributions reach across the globe for artists like
Japanese pop superstar Yumi (Yuming) Matsutoya. In 1984 he was first
asked to bring a new sound and production techniques to her recordings. He
worked on 15 albums as recording engineer, mixer and co-producer, 14
of which entered the Billboard chart at #1 and 2 received ‘Gold
Disc Awards’ (Grammy Equivalent).
Matt Forger’s body of work has steadily allowed him to fuse
technical prowess with an ear for hit music and intuition for bringing
new and innovative styles and sounds together for commercial success.
His current involvement is helping artists achieve the success they
desire, by focusing the emotional content of their music and using
technology to reach that goal. Matt’s most recent work has been
with Indie singer/songwriters and
Alternative Pop bands.
